The use of near field communication (NFC), by simply placing mobile devices equipped with NFC connectivity in close proximity, is now becoming a universal standard adopted by all smartphone manufacturers.
This book explores the three standard modes of NFC, which offer the opportunity of new and innovative mobile services based on the “Tap ’n Play” paradigm; touch to pay or touch to control (in card emulation mode), touch to obtain or produce information (in read/write mode), and touch to share (in peer-to-peer mode).
The authors present a pragmatic vision of the NFC standard, discussed in three parts: the state of the art of NFC and its standards, mobile programming of NFC applications with Android, and commented examples of practical use cases. About the Authors
Anne-Marie Lesas is an R&D engineer and a consultant in digital information systems. She teaches programming of contactless applications at the University of Nice - Sophia-Antipolis in France.
Serge Miranda is full-time Professor in computer science at the University of Nice - Sophia-Antipolis in France and director of MBDS master degree and innovation laboratory (www.mbds-fr.orgt) which has been prototyping NFC projects since 2004.
