Optimization, Uncertainties and Reliability
Publication Date: January 2017 Hardback 254 pp.
This book first introduces the basic principles of structural optimization and its integration into biomechanics (prosthesis design and drilling surgery). Then, different strategies for the integration of reliability into structural optimization are detailed. This integration is performed in biomechanics (prosthesis design). The structural optimization is classified into three groups (sizing-, shape- and topology optimization). The integration of reliability concept is carried out on the three groups in order to obtain optimal and reliable structures. In terms of biomechanics, the integration of reliability and structural optimization is performed as part of the design of orthopedic and orthodontic prostheses. Two approaches are considered: deterministic and reliability-based approaches.
Providing invaluable support to teaching staff and researchers, this book is also intended for engineering students, practicing engineers and Masters students.
