Description

This book contains the Proceedings of the 3rd International Symposium devoted to recent advances in the study and modeling of T-H-M-C coupling in geomaterials and its applications (GeoProc’2008). Original up-to-date results are presented by leading experts at an international level. Various topics are covered from fundamental developments to engineering applications such as: coupled constitutive models, multi-scale approaches, probabilistic methods, experimental and in situ investigations. Numerical implementation, solutions and case studies are also provided.

Contents

Fundamentals of mechanics of porous media
Experimental characterization of coupled T-H-M-C processes in porous media
Constitutive models for T-H-M-C coupling
Numerical modeling of T-H-M-C processes
Multi-scale approaches
In situ investigation
T-H-M-C processes in durability mechanics of concrete and structures
T-H-M-C in engineering applications.

About the Authors

Jian-Fu Shao is a professor in the Laboratory of Mechanics of Lille at the University of Science and Technology of Lille. He is leading a research team working mechanics of cohesive geomaterials. His research topics cover coupled constitutive modelling of geomaterials, mechanics of porous media, multi-scale approaches and numerical modelling. He is author and co-author of 70 papers in reviewed journals and more than 100 papers in international conferences.
Nicolas Burlion is a professor in the Laboratory of Mechanics of Lille at the University of Science and Technology of Lille. His research concerns durability mechanics of concrete, experimental characterization of coupled THMC phenomenon in concrete, and X-ray microtomographic analysis of microstructure evolutions of cementitious composites.
